Reims, November 2020
Wine Enthusiast Magazine, the benchmark American magazine in the world of wines and spirits, has just awarded scores of above 90/100 to four of Tsarine's cuvées.
On the ratings scale used by Wine Enthusiast, whose tastings are of course conducted blind, a score of between 94 and 97/100, means: SUPERB A great achievement. It’s a very fine result for Orium, the extra-brut champagne launched by Tsarine in the fall of 2019.
A score of between 90 and 93/100, which means EXCELLENT Highly recommended, was also awarded to Tzarina, Tsarine Millésime 2014, and Tsarine by Adriana.
This series of excellent scores awarded to four Tsarine champagnes is yet another recognition of the work and the talents of Isabelle Tellier, Chef de Cave of the House of Chanoine Frères and creator of all these cuvées.
(Notes and quotes from Wine Enthusiast Magazine)
Tsarine Cuvée Orium: 94/100
“Launched in 2019, this is a blend of the three Champagne grapes in equal proportion along with 37% reserve wine. The combination gives a Champagne that is mature and beautifully balanced, ripe with creamed apples while also having a toasty aspect. The bottling is ready to drink.”
Tzarina: 93/100
“This limited-production prestige Champagne in its elegant designer frosted bottle is crisp, tight with citrus and green plums. The blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in equal proportions gives a wine that is rich, steely and nervy and set for some bottle aging. Drink this bottling from 2021.”
Tsarine Millésime 2014: 92/100
“While it is still young, this vintage Champagne has fine potential. The taut, steely edge is set to soften as the apple and citrus fruits flourish. Wait for this wine to develop further maturity and drink from 2023.”
Tsarine by Adriana: 92/100
“This is a delicate, fragrant and finely balanced Champagne. It is on the dry side, giving a steely edge that suggests the bottling is young. With the green and citrus fruit and the pure acidity, this fine wine needs to age. Drink from 2021.”
