Chanoine Frères Réserve Privée: Launch of the 2013 Vintage

Reims, 29 November 2019

The House of Chanoine Frères is currently launching its Réserve Privée Brut Millésime 2013 champagne in France. Some ten different crus went into the composition of the 2013 vintage, which Head Wine-Maker Isabelle Tellier chose to compose around Pinot Noir (58%) and Chardonnay (42%), then age it for more than five years in the House’s cellars in Reims.

Isabelle Tellier recalls: “In 2013 the harvest was really very late, taking place between 24 September and 9 October. After a cool, humid spring, the summer was hot and dry, which is unheard of in the Champagne. The grapes took longer to reach maturity, and then the harvest took place in beautiful sunny weather, after a little beneficial rainfall. The grapes were healthy and of fine quality.

With its lacy bubbles and pale-gold color, Réserve Privée Brut Millésime 2013 has a fine, delicate nose with fruit (peach) and floral (white acacia flowers) notes, set off by a few touches of spice. The wine has a frank and lively attack dominated by flavors of hawthorn and citrus. The finish is long, embellished by licorice notes.

Isabelle Tellier is a Head Wine-Maker who loves food and the quest for the perfect pairing of cuisine and wines. She advises serving the vintage 2013 Chanoine Réserve Privée Brut Millésime 2013 with:

- at aperitif time, cheese and cumin crackers;

- as a starter, a lobster terrine or scallops and mango in puff pastry;

- as the main course, sautéed prawns with candied citrus, a duo of fattened hen and lobster, or an exotic guinea fowl;

- fresh goat cheese;

- and for dessert, an apricot crumble.

Isabelle Tellier says “The 2013 vintage Chanoine Frères Réserve Privée is a champagne with character, delicate and vivacious, perfectly in keeping with the holiday spirit!

For the holiday season, the wine is being sold along with a matching ice bucket — the perfect accessory for ensuring that this champagne is at its ideal temperature of between 10°C and 12°C.
