Tsarine Solium: The Film “The Art of Premier Cru”

Reims, May 2022

In the new video “Tsarine Solium: The Art of Premier Cru” Isabelle Tellier, Chef de Cave of the House of Chanoine Frères, introduces her new creation for Tsarine — a champagne whose name, Solium, “is evocative of the sun and the soil of Champagne. Only wines from Premier Cru villages go into blending Tsarine’s Solium champagne.”

Tsarine Solium: Premiers Crus of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir

Presented in a bottle with splendid red-and-gold labelling, Tsarine Solium is a fresh and complex champagne whose blend is made up of 72% Chardonnay and 28% Pinot Noir grapes from Premier Cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs, the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne.

It has aged at least forty months in the House's cellars in Reims: “... that’s how long it takes to properly age a Premier Cru. I also chose to use slow fermentation, which preserves the identity of the grapes. Solium is a champagne with a sugar dosage of only 5 g, which lets the flavors develop fully.”

With Tsarine Solium, Isabelle Tellier says, “many gourmet food pairings are possible; it goes with everything. Solium has an assertive sensory richness. The pleasure is immediate and generous. Solium is for giving and sharing.”

Tasting notes for Tsarine Solium

The pale-gold color of this champagne highlights its lacy, fine bubbles. The nose is elegant and fresh, opening with lovely notes of yellow summer fruits like nectarine and peach. Then it evolves into more voluptuous notes of pastry, hazelnuts and raisin — flavors that emerge after several years of ageing in the House’s cellars.

The lively, precise palate charms the senses with its concentration and silky texture, accompanied by flavors of lime set off by a floral touch. The finish is long and harmonious, letting you enjoy the bracing minerality of this cuvée.

The ideal tasting temperature for Solium champagne from Tsarine is between 10° and 12°C.
