Reims, September 2021
It’s a first: Orium, the extra-brut member of the Tsarine line of champagnes, now has its own “Russian Doll” packaging. The limited-edition container is in the Orium colors, black and gold.
A pop-art matryoshka for Tsarine Orium
For several years now the “Russian Doll” packaging theme has been a tradition with Tsarine, expressed in a series of exclusive designs for several of the line’s champagnes. The now-“iconic” containers are enthusiastically sought out by many collectors.
The new matryoshka created for Orium sports a resolutely contemporary pop-art design, along with a touch of humor, while remaining within the tradition of the brand’s earlier Russian-doll variants.
The container is of course a reference to Tsarine’s Russian inspiration and to the history of the House of Chanoine, which dates back to the 18th century, and the new packaging is sure to inspire fans of Tsarine Orium, an extra-brut champagne aged more than 36 months in the House’s cellars.
The limited-edition “Russian Doll” Tsarine Orium is available only from selected wine dealers.
Three gold medals for Tsarine Orium in 2021
“Orium” of course suggests Aurum (Au), the Latin for gold, and Tsarine’s Orium Extra Brut seems to attract the precious metal — three gold medals have been awarded in competitions this year:
gold medal in the “ELLE à Table” wine competition in May 2021;
gold-medal winner at the 2021 Feminalise World Wine Competition, with a score of 16/20 awarded by a jury made up exclusively of women;
gold medal in the Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge 2021 with a score of 89/100.
The three gold medals complement the other distinctions awarded in 2020:
gold medal in the worldwide Berliner Wine Trophy competition;
a score of 94/100 — “SUPERB A great achievement” — from Wine Enthusiast Magazine, the benchmark American wine publication.
These magnificent results for Orium, the extra-brut launched by Tsarine in the autumn of 2019, add to the amazing record of its creator, Isabelle Tellier, Chef de Cave of the House of Chanoine Frères:
“This extra brut champagne, aged for more than 36 months in our cellars, is founded on a subtle balance among the three Champagne grape varieties: 34% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir, and 33% Meunier.
With Orium my aim was to attain balance in all its purity, maintaining the typical qualities of each variety and reducing the sugar dosage to achieve an extra brut …”
