Reims, April 2021
The Tzarina, Tsarine Extra Brut Cuvée Orium and Tsarine Rosé Brut champagnes were all on the podium of the Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge 2021.
The international vinicultural competition was created 30 years ago by the independent French group founded in 1989 by Philippe Gaillard and François Gilbert. Published in 19 languages, the Gilbert & Gaillard Wine Guide has become an international reference for wine professionals and amateurs the world over.
Three Tsarine cuvées won medals — two gold and one silver.
1/ Gold Medal for Tsarine Extra Brut Cuvée Orium champagne
“Light gold colour. An expressive, delicate nose, notes of white fruits, highly engaging. A very generous wine on the palate, full-bodied, with aromas of very ripe fruit, underscored by a toasted quality. A harmonious and convivial champagne.”
Orium was given a score of 89/100 at the Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge 2021.
Yet another international award and a confirmation for Orium, the latest creation for the Tsarine range by Isabelle Tellier, Chef de Cave of the House of Chanoine Frères.
Tsarine Orium won two distinctions in 2020:
- Gold Medal at the worldwide Berliner Wine Trophy competition;
- An excellent score of 94/100 – “SUPERB A great achievement” – from Wine Enthusiast Magazine, the benchmark American wine publication.

2/ Gold Medal for Tzarina champagne
“Pale gold colour. A pleasant nose of white flowers, with a touch of hazelnut. A very lively style on the palate, acidulated, with a riper, full-bodied, expressive finish. A crisp cuvée to pair with marinated fish.”
Orium was given a score of 88/100 at the Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge 2021.
The prestige Tzarina cuvée was recently singled out by Wine Enthusiast Magazine, which awarded it a score of 93/100.

3/ Silver Medal for Tsarine Rosé
“A fairly intense rose colour. The nose features very ripe red fruits, evoking strawberries in particular. On the palate this is a tense, fruit-forward rosé that shows character and an assertive aromatic expression. A thirst-quenching, rather festive rosé.”
Tsarine Rosé Brut was given a score of 84/100 at the Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge 2021.
Already the winner of many distinctions, Tsarine Rosé continues its harvest of medals.
This fine score given by the 2021 Gilbert & Gaillard Wine Guide continues the momentum of the new star awarded by the 2021 Hachette Wine Guide.
Tsarine Rosé is available on the Chanoine Frères' online store.
