The USA’s Wine Enthusiast Recommends Chanoine Frères’ Réserve Privée Brut Champagne

Reims, January 2023

Wine Enthusiast Magazine, the benchmark American publication in the world of wines and spirits, has just recommended Chanoine Frères’ Réserve Privée Brut champagne with a score of 89 points.

Réserve Privée Brut: 89/100

The score — a high one in the rating system used by Wine Enthusiast, whose tastings are of course done blind — means “VERY GOOD... well recommended.” The rating is accompanied by the following comments:

“The wine, a blend of the three hand Champagne grapes, is soft and fruity. Its creamy texture is brightened with citrus and filled out with some toastiness. Drink now.”

The recommendation is very good news for Réserve Privée since it comes at a time when the champagne is making its first inroads into the US market, where it is being extremely well received. That’s the case in Florida, one of the United States where the most champagne is drunk and where Chanoine Frères champagnes are distributed in the stores and on the online store of the leading specialist chain Total Wine.

Isabelle’s Réserve Privée

Isabelle Tellier, Chef de Cave of the House of Chanoine Frères, is the creator of the Réserve Privée champagnes. In this video (length 1 min. English subtitle), she explains her philosophy and her goals as Chef de Cave in developing these champagnes of character:

I wanted to create a family of Champagne wines — wines with roots and character.

I blend these cuvées based on the typical qualities of the grape varieties. … The Brut is structured around Pinot Noir. It gives body, a fine aromatic richness, temperament and power …

Réserve Privée is a philosophy and a lifestyle. These are champagnes for champagne lovers, rich in taste. They’re meant to be enjoyed with friends and relations who love wine and the good food that goes with it.”
