Chanoine Frères’ Réserve Privée Wins New Recognition from the Hachette Wine Guide!

Reims, September 2021

For the third time, Chanoine Frères Réserve Privée has been singled out by the 2022 Hachette Wine Guide, the reference for wine connoisseurs for over thirty years.

This year, two cuvées have won awards – a star for Brut and two stars for Millésime 2014.

The new stars are also recognition for the work of Isabelle Tellier, Chef de Cave of the House, who created these wines and who is dedicated to making champagnes of character for Réserve Privée, structured around the Pinot Noir grape, in particular from the village of Les Riceys in the Cote de Bar.

A star for Réserve Privée Brut

Chanoine Frères Réserve Privée Brut was awarded a star that designated “a good wine”; the Hachette Wine Guide says:

“The Brut of the line emphasizes the reds (80%, essentially Pinot Noir). A subtle and elegant champagne, notable both for its aromatic presence (white fruits, cherry plum, candied lemon) and for its palate in unison with its nose – fruity, delectable and acidulated, with a fine long finish.”

You’ll find Isabelle Tellier’s suggestions for food-wine pairings on the tasting sheet.

Two stars for Réserve Privée Millésime 2014

The 2014 vintage Réserve Privée Brut was awarded two stars, which according to the Hachette Wine Guide scoring system means that the wine is “remarkable.”The Hachette Guide says the following:

The vintage Brut from 2014, a fresh year, comprises 39% Chardonnay alongside Pinot Noir (48%) and Meunier.

A delicious and appetizing champagne, blending honey, apricot, and brioche and toasty notes in the nose. In the same register, the palate has a lively attack and shows power, roundness and length. Perfect for a white meat or poultry.
