Under Wine Enthusiast’s scoring system, based exclusively on blind tastings, a score of between 90 and 93/100 means “Excellent - Highly Recommended.”
The Secrets of Tzarina
Today’s Tzarina is a Champagne wine made from grapes harvested in 2015. Blended and bottled in 2016, it has aged in the House’s cellars on the Allée du Vignoble in Reims for five years, to allow the full wealth of its flavors to develop.
The Tzarina blend is made up of 54% Chardonnay and 41% Pinot Noir — the great majority Premier Cru and Grand Cru – and 5% Meunier grapes.
The Tzarina bottle is unique in its interpretation of the famous fluting of the Tsarine bottles: Tzarina’s alternates between clear and frosted glass, to better reveal the champagne’s pale-gold color.
Chef de Cave Isabelle Tellier created Tzarina to be a limited-bottle cuvée de prestige. It is a precise, rich champagne with true stature. Worthy to accompany any occasion, from a chic aperitif to a gourmet dinner, it should be drunk ideally at between 10°C and 12°C.
